New Zealand Parkour acknowledged as the national organisation for Parkour by Sport NZ

Sport New Zealand  -  the guardian of the New Zealand’s world-leading sporting system, from grassroots through to elite sport - has formally acknowledged our member, New Zealand Parkour - Tauhōkai Aotearoa as the National Organisation leading and governing the sport/activity of Parkour in New Zealand.Sport New Zealand acknowledged the efforts of New Zealand Parkour in developing and delivering Parkour throughout the nation since its incorporation in 2011, working with a myriad of local and national organisations, Regional Sports Trusts, councils, and schools.Damien Puddle, CEO of New Zealand Parkour (& Elected Director of Parkour Earth) has said “We’ve been working hard for over 5 years to develop and support Parkour, as well as use it as a vehicle for positive change in people’s lives. It’s exciting to see our efforts rewarded by this acknowledgement.”New Zealand Parkour were unsuccessful in becoming a Sport New Zealand investment partner in 2014, with Sport New Zealand citing the infancy of the organisation as the main reason for not meeting the criteria. Although, New Zealand is currently not yet a Sport New Zealand partner organisation, a change in Sport New Zealand’s strategic objectives, including the development of Sport New Zealand's Community Sport Strategy 2015-20, puts New Zealand in a better position to potentially meet investment criteria in the future. As a direct result of the formal acknowledgement of New Zealand Parkour as the National Organisation leading and governing the sport/activity of Parkour in New Zealand by Sport New Zealand,  New Zealand Parkour have been approved as a full member of Parkour Earth.[pdf-embedder url="https://parkour.earth/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Press-Release-Sport-NZ-acknowledges-Parkour-NZ-as-national-organisation-governing-parkour.pdf"]
