Photography Resource

Frequently asked questions.

The Resource consists of sets of 12 photos purchased from parkour photographers from all over the world. These photographs are purchased for non-commercial use by Parkour Earth and our member organisations. The FAQ explains more details about the Photography Resource and how we deliver it so that it is fair to photographers, models and those using the photos.

Using the Resource

Frequently asked questions about the Photography Resource, how it works, and what you can do with these images.

  • The Photograph Resource is a set of images that have been ethically sourced and are available for editorial usage for Parkour Earth Members and organisations affiliated with members.

  • Visit https://www.flickr.com/photos/parkourearth/albums to see the resource. We aim to add new photographs every 6-8 weeks.

  • If you are a paying member of Parkour Earth or affiliated to a member, then you can use these photographs for your website, social media or even print posters and flyers. You CANNOT sell these photographs or sell anything that contains these photographs.

  • Members of the PKE Badge system may not use these photographs, you can either join as an organisational member or ask your local NGB about affiliating.

  • These photographs have their rights reserved, so can only be used in certain circumstances. If you want to use the photographs for a commercial project, each photograph is accompanied by the photographer’s contact details so that you can contact them for a quote.

  • If you are a Parkour Earth affiliate, either directly or through one of our members, you can use these photographers for:

    • Posting online on websites
    • Posting to Social Media
    • Use in advertising print such as flyers, banners etc.
    • Other non-commercial uses.

  • Any monetisation of an image constitutes commercial use. This includes both direct and indirect use. Examples include selling a t-shirt with the photograph printed on it, or selling a book or pdf containing the photograph.

Photographer Questions

Frequently asked questions that photographers may ask when they are considering selling their photos to Parkour Earth to include in the resource.

  • Parkour Earth raises money through its Supporters Initiative in order to purchase photographs for the community. At present, we are purchasing sets of 12 photographs for £200. We purchase photographs mostly for editorial use.

  • Parkour Earth is actively seeking photographers from diverse backgrounds and photographs that tell the complicated story of parkour. As we establish the resource, we are approaching photographers who interest us. As the resource builds and it becomes better known, we will build a more transparent process.

  • Parkour Earth affiliates, such as national governing bodies (NGBs), or members of NGBs, can use the photographers for:
    - Posting online on websites
    - Posting to social media
    - Use in print advertising such as flyers, banners etc.
    - Other non-commercial uses.

  • Send Parkour Earth a DM or email and some examples of your work and we’ll add you to our database. If we are interested, we will get in touch.

You can contact us using the Contact button at the top of the page.

  • We are looking to build a portfolio of images that cover as many different aspects of parkour as possible. We are seeking photos of a diverse range of parkour practitioners training in different settings. This includes spectacular photographs of stunts; coaching photographs; pictures of busy parkour jams and every other aspect of the discipline.
Parkour Earth is committed to showing Parkour through a diverse lens, and as a result, we will prioritise photographs that add to the diversity of the resource.

  • Parkour Earth will invite you to submit 12 high quality photographs for addition to the resource. We will invite you to curate them and discuss with you which of your photographs would be best suited.
Once the photographs have been selected, we will send you a photography release form that you sign. We then pay for the photographs to a bank account of your choice in a currency of your choice.
It is your responsibility to make sure that you have the relevant permissions to sell the photographs that we purchase.

  • If the photographs were taken in a public place and are of adults, you don’t need to have permission of everyone in the photograph.
If the photograph was taken in a private space (such as a parkour gym) then you should have the permission of anyone in the photograph.
If the photograph includes a minor (Under 18) then Parkour Earth requires written permission from their parent or guardian.
It is best practice to always have the permission of any athlete you shoot to sell their photographs for any purpose. However, we wouldn’t expect you to have written permission of everyone in a group photo.

  • For editorial usage, (such as selling to Parkour Earth) we recommend you get written confirmation. This could be as simple as an email or even an instagram DM.
For commercial usage, most athletes will expect to be paid a portion of your income if you sell their image.
A good standard practice is to ask an athlete for written permission to sell the photograph for editorial use and offer them 20% of any income from commercial use of the photo.
